Vox Vuma Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) refers to a fibre optic strand that is linked directly to your home. It is a thin strand of glass used to transmit beams of light that carry large amounts of data. This data is then used to deliver high-speed internet, video, television, security, and voice services with Vox Vuma Fibre.
How does Vox Vuma Fibre differ from ADSL?
ADSL runs over existing copper wire infrastructure, which is often unreliable and offers average speeds of around 4Mbps. Vox Vuma Fibre, on the other hand, transmits information as light impulses along flexible glass fibres at incredible speeds, allowing users to achieve speeds of up to 1000Mbps, depending on the Vuma network. Vox Vuma Fibre connections are around 250 times faster than ADSL.

How do I sign up for Vox Vuma Fibre FTTH?

To sign up for Vox Vuma Fibre FTTH:

  1. Fill in your details on the quick application form from www.uncappedfibre.co.za/vox/vuma
  2. Once we receive your form, we will call to confirm your package details.
  3. A quote will be sent via SMS or email for approval.
  4. Once accepted, we will process your order and schedule your Vox Vuma Fibre installation.

What supporting documentation is required for Vox Vuma Fibre?

Vox requires the following documentation for a Vox Vuma Fibre application:

  • Clear copy of ID (certified copy preferred)

  • Proof of physical address (not older than 3 months)

Vox will verify your ID with the Home Affairs database. If the ID is unclear, a certified copy will be requested.

Can I use a 3rd party for payments for Vox Vuma Fibre?

Yes. You must provide the ID of the person whose bank account will pay for Vox Vuma Fibre, along with a signed letter authorising you to use their account for the service.

What does the Vox Vuma Fibre installation process look like?

The Vox Vuma Fibre installation process includes:

  1. Site Assessment:A Vuma-approved contractor visits your premises to determine if extra internal or external cabling is required.

  2. ONT Installation:The fibre is pulled into your home, and the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is installed if needed.

  3. Network Testing & Handover:The connection is tested remotely and handed over to Vox.

  4. Router Installation:A Vox technician installs your router, and your Vox Vuma Fibre connection is live.

Installation usually takes 7–21 working days depending on network infrastructure.

How long does a Vox Vuma Fibre application take?

Applications typically take 7–21 working days. Submit your paperwork with correct documentation to avoid delays.

Tips for faster installation:

  1. Ensure any existing Vox accounts are fully paid.

  2. Fill in your application accurately and legibly with the correct documents.

  3. If your area has planned Fibre rollout, submit paperwork early to be first in line when the network goes live.

What are the Vox Vuma Fibre contract terms and cancellation policy?

Vox Vuma Fibre is on a month-to-month contract with a minimum 12-month commitment. Cancelling within the first 12 months incurs a once-off penalty. After 12 months, cancellation requires 30 days’ notice with no penalty.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my Vox Vuma Fibre package?

Yes. You may upgrade or downgrade your Vox Vuma Fibre package anytime. Upgrades may include a small fee, and downgrades within the contract term may incur a penalty. Cancellations are subject to your agreed contract terms with Vox.

What hardware comes with Vox Vuma Fibre packages?

Vox Vuma Fibre packages include a high-end 4-port Wi-Fi router, allowing you to set up your own Wi-Fi hotspot at home or business.

Do you supply Wi-Fi Boosting Access Points for Vox Vuma Fibre?

Yes. For larger homes or premises, we recommend cabled Access Points (APs). Vox uses Ubiquiti APs connected via Ethernet to extend Wi-Fi coverage. The AP is mounted on the ceiling, and a quote can be requested by email.

How does billing work for Vox Vuma Fibre?

Vox Vuma Fibre subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. Setup fees and top-ups are billed in arrears.

Example:If your invoice date is 1 March, your full package subscription for 01–31 March is billed. The first invoice may include a pro-rated amount from activation to the next billing cycle.

Can I make calls over my Vox Vuma Fibre line?

Yes. You can use a DSL Telecom VoIP phone with Vox Frogfoot Fibre. Visit www.uncappedvoip.co.za for VoIP packages.

Do I need a separate voice line for Vox Vuma Fibre?

No. Vox Vuma Fibre runs independently of traditional copper voice lines.

When does number porting happen with Vox Vuma Fibre?

Porting your old Telkom number usually occurs after Vox Vuma Fibre installation. Vox provides a default 087 number. To port a number, submit:

  1. A copy of your latest Telkom bill

  2. Completed porting form

Porting takes 10–15 working days after documents are received.

Does Vox Vuma Fibre include a telephone service?

Can I move my Vox Vuma Fibre line if I relocate?

You can only transfer the service if your new address is covered by Vox Vuma Fibre. Submit your Customer Order Form (COF) and documents to DSL Telecom to process the relocation.
