How To Upgrade Or Downgrade Your Telkom LTE Package?

You can upgrade or downgrade your Telkom LTE package by visiting www.ltedeals.co.za /renew and selecting the deal you wish to upgrade or downgrade to. A DSL Telecom agent will check your current contract term and see if you are eligible to change your package and determine if any fees are applicable.

Can I Upgrade Or Downgrade My Telkom LTE Internet Deal?

The ability to change your Telkom LTE package depends on how many months you are into your contract or commitment period:

1) If you are 1 - 3 months into your Telkom LTE contract period, you cannot change your package. In this instance, if you want a new deal you will need to take out a new contract.

2) If you are 4 - 21 months into your contract period, you are allowed to change your package. Telkom refers to this as a package migration and we charge an administration fee and a penalty fee to perform the migration which is calculated at the time of the package migration request.

3) If you are in the 22nd month or more of your contract period, you are allowed to change your package. Telkom refers to this as a package renewal and no administration or penalty fees will be charged.

When Can I Renew My Telkom LTE Deal?

You have the option of either renewing your current Telkom LTE deal as a Sim-Only renewal or you can renew to a Sim + Router deal. This can be done on the 22nd+ month of your Telkom LTE contract.

How to track your Telkom LTE order

Here you can find the general delivery lead times for Telkom LTE. Scroll down to find a walk-through video showing you how to track your Telkom LTE order.

Once you have placed your Telkom LTE order on www.ltedeals.co.za or www.uncappedlte.co.za, DSL Telecom will submit your application directly to Telkom's back office.

Once Telkom has approved your Telkom LTE application on their system, you will receive a order number and a waybill number, which you can use for tracking purposes. You order will then be handed over to Courier IT for delivery. You can anticipate your Telkom LTE SIM & router (if ordered) to be delivered within 7 - 10 working days, from your order approval date.

To easily track your Telkom order and estimated delivery date, visit Courier IT's website: www.courierit.co.za and enter your tracking/waybill number.

Step 1:
On the CourierIt page, select ' TRACK MY PARCEL '

Step 2:
Enter your waybill number in the designated box.

Step 3:
Details of your parcel will be displayed on the screen.

NB: It can take up to 2 working days for your order tracking details to populate on Courier IT's website. Upon delivery, the courier will require you to present your ID document and proof of address for RICA purposes.

These days, the internet plays such an integral role in our daily lives, that we feel completely lost without an available, reliable and fast internet connection to keep us switched on to social media, instant messaging and email.

To ensure you can stream and game your heart out with your fibre internet connection, it's important to select a fibre internet speed that matches your needs.

Here's a guideline to help you determine which fibre internet speed is best for you:

Netflix & Showmax 💻

Opting for an uncapped fibre internet package ensures that you'll have enough data to watch all the content you want! If you’re a single user, we’d recommend to you select a 10Mbps uncapped fibre deal.

To enjoy a smooth standard definition video in 480p, a fibre internet speed that is more than 3Mbps is recommended.

For a single user wanting to stream in HD, a 5Mbps fibre line is recommended.

If you have a family, opting for standard HD 1080p, the recommended fibre line speed is 10Mbps - 25Mbps.

Ultra HD streaming requires a minimum of 25Mbps fibre line speed.

Watching TV shows or movies on Netflix uses about 1GB of data per hour for each stream of standard definition video and up to 3GB per hour for each stream of HD video & 5-7GB per hour for 4K content

Netflix and Showmax automatically adjust the video quality to match your internet speed. If Netflix detects a slow internet speed, it will not stream high-definition quality video, even if the movie or TV show is available in HD.

For standard definition video streaming, a fibre connection that is more than 3Mbps is recommended.

To stream in 1080p HD content, a 5Mpbs and up fibre line is required.

A 20Mbps fibre connection is required if you and others in the same household wish to stream in HD quality on the same network.

Watching a YouTube video at the standard 480p uses around 260MB per hour, while Full HD viewing can chew through 1.65GB. 4K video playback on YouTube will use as much as 2.7GB of data every hour.

Music 🎵

To stream music without having to worry about your song buffering, you will only need 2-10Mbps as a starting point. Keep in mind that a faster fibre connection is required if you would like to do other things like play games or stream a YouTube video.

Gaming 🎮

If you’re a gamer, ideally you should opt for an uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled fibre internet package with at least 50 Mbps download speed and anything from 20Mbps upload line for your gaming needs. Depending on the games you play, you can use up to 1GB an hour or more.

If you live in a household with more than 2 people, things can get complicated. You would require additional line speed - in this instance roughly 5-10Mbps per person.

It is also important to remember that the amount of devices connected to the same fibre internet connection will affect your upload and download speeds.
